On the 19th, at the National April 19 Democratic Cemetery in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, President-elect Yoon said, "The spirit of April 19 is embedded in the lives of the people and the overall operation of the government," emphasizing, "The sole owner of the nation is the people."
Last November, during his campaign as the People Power Party's presidential candidate, Yoon also visited this site and left a guestbook message stating, "I will never forget the spirit of the April 19 Revolution and will establish liberal democracy." He then immediately proceeded with his schedule in Honam to seek moderate expansion.
President-elect Yoon has expressed his intention to inherit the spirit of April 19, which is mentioned in the preamble of the Constitution. On the same day, Bae Hyun-jin, the spokesperson for the president-elect, said at a briefing in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, "As everyone knows, the April 19 Revolution was the first citizen revolution after liberation, rising up against injustice to protect liberal democracy," adding, "President-elect Yoon will preserve this precious value so that the people can fully feel the value of liberal democracy, which was defended with lives, in their daily lives and work."
