Sangju-si, Gyeongbuk Receives 'Director of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Commendation Plaque' for Contributions to Promoting Veterans Culture
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Sangju City, Gyeongbuk Province, received a plaque of appreciation from the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs on the 29th.
Sangju City was recognized for its contribution to the establishment of memorials for the Korean War and Vietnam War veterans and the promotion of a culture honoring national patriots.
The city plans to build a monument, which had been a long-cherished wish of national patriots, to raise local community security awareness and the spirit of patriotism.
In addition, it contributed to stabilizing the lives and improving the welfare of patriots by increasing allowances for veterans and expanding the eligibility for these allowances by removing age restrictions.
Jang Jeong-gyo, head of the Daegu Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, said, “We express our gratitude for Sangju City's great efforts for national patriots,” and added, “On behalf of the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, I present this plaque of appreciation.”
