Hyundai Motor Company and Socar Sign Business Agreement for Connected Car Operating System Integration
Personalized Driving Environment Possible in Shared Vehicles
Provides Services Such as Shared Vehicle Location Tracking and Parking Lot Search for Return After Use
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Hyundai Motor Company is collaborating with Socar to provide differentiated mobility experiences for customers using car-sharing services, based on its self-developed connected car operating system.
On the 25th, Hyundai Motor announced on the 27th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for 'Connected Car Operating System Integration' at Socar's Seoul office, with key figures including Hyundai's Choo Kyo-woong, Head of the Infotainment Development Center, Kwon Hae-young, Head of the Infotainment Development Office, Socar CEO Park Jae-wook, and CTO Ryu Seok-moon in attendance.
Hyundai plans to cooperate with Socar to link its independently developed 'Connected Car Software Operating System (ccOS)' with the Socar application.
ccOS is a proprietary software platform developed by Hyundai Motor Group to quickly process and handle vast amounts of data used in connected cars and to provide stable services. Starting with the GV80 in 2020, ccOS has been applied to all models under the Genesis brand.
Hyundai will create an environment where the Socar application can be integrated into ccOS, which forms the foundation of high-performance connected cars. This will enable Socar users to experience a personalized driving environment optimized for each individual anytime and anywhere.
Through this, customers will be able to experience optimized seat posture, climate control, side mirror positions, infotainment settings, and more tailored to the individual driver each time they use Socar's car-sharing service.
Additionally, Hyundai will collaborate to enhance the convenience of shared vehicle use by linking its navigation map platform, 'Routo,' with Socar's vehicle control system.
The two companies plan to provide services such as locating shared vehicles and searching for parking lots for vehicle return after use. Kwon Hae-young, Executive Director of Hyundai Motor's Infotainment Development Office, stated, "Through the partnership with Socar, we expect customers using Hyundai's connected cars to enjoy a more innovative mobility experience."
Socar CTO Ryu Seok-moon said, "This agreement allows us to build an important foundation for streaming mobility that provides uninterrupted, personalized mobility experiences," adding, "We will continue to advance our technology to become a mobility innovation platform."
