Incheon City Provides Care Services for Elderly Living Alone and Middle-Aged Single-Person Households with 'AI Phone'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City announced on the 24th that it will start an artificial intelligence (AI) care phone service for elderly living alone and middle-aged single-person households in need of care.
This service has been promoted since March last year targeting COVID-19 self-quarantined individuals after Incheon City signed a 'Business Agreement on the Implementation of AI Care Phone Service' with Naver, and the target has now been expanded to single-person households in need of care.
Naver's AI care phone "Clova Care Call" makes calls to care recipients at designated times to check on meals, sleep, health status, etc., and sends the results to the local community center staff.
The system also sends alerts for abnormal responses such as no answer or no response after the call is connected, helping the staff to take follow-up actions.
This changes the existing method where local community center staff directly call care recipients to check on them, to a form where AI automatically makes the calls and informs the staff of the call results.
The city will first conduct a pilot operation targeting 60 residents in Jung-gu and Namdong-gu, and plans to expand the target based on the operation results.
