The Newspaper Association Selects Four Works Including 'Special Supply Corruption in Sejong City Government Officials' Apartments' for the Korea Newspaper Awards
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] The Korea Newspaper Association announced on the 23rd that the winners of the 2022 Korea Newspaper Awards in the News Reporting category were the consecutive reports "Special Supply Corruption of Sejong City Government Officials' Apartments" by Munhwa Ilbo and "Controversy over Budget Waste by Gangwon Provincial Office of Education" by Gangwon Domin Ilbo.
In the Investigative Reporting category, the reports "Planners of Desire Worth 20 Million Won" by Hankyoreh Newspaper and the "Goo Hara Series - Impoverished Neighborhoods and Housing-Poor Children" by Maeil Shinmun were selected.
This year, a total of 47 entries were submitted to the Korea Newspaper Awards, including 17 in the News Reporting category and 30 in the Investigative Reporting category.
The judges evaluated this year's submissions as "masterpieces that accurately captured the problems facing our society, demonstrated journalistic spirit, devised creative approaches, and confirmed the value of newspapers by leading desirable changes."

Meanwhile, the Newspaper Association added that, based on the judges' recommendations, the editorial series "Stop the Media Evil Law" by the Editorial Department of Maeil Business Newspaper was selected for a special award this year.
