Kumho Tire's Chinese Factory Recognized for Environmental Friendliness
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Hankook Tire & Technology announced on the 22nd that its Chongqing plant in China received the Green Plant Award from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. This award is given by the Chinese government to factories leading eco-friendly manufacturing environments in accordance with the Industrial Green Development Plan. After self-assessments and evaluations by experts and government departments, 662 green factories were selected this year. Included were 989 green design products, 52 industrial complexes, and 107 pilot projects for green supply chain management.

Hankook Tire's Chongqing plant, located in the Liangjiang New Area of China, has emphasized eco-friendly aspects such as using environmentally friendly building materials during initial construction and enhancing energy efficiency by utilizing natural lighting methods. The plant has established a dedicated committee for eco-friendly operation and management, implementing an energy-saving target responsibility system involving all employees, regularly monitors noise and greenhouse gases, and has obtained international environmental management system certification.
