60-Year-Old Arrest Warrant Issued for 'Landlord Murder' Over Refusal to Repair House
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] A tenant in his 60s was arrested by the police on suspicion of killing his landlord for not responding to repair requests.
According to the police on the 17th, the Dobong Police Station in Seoul urgently arrested a man in his 60s, Mr. A, on suspicion of fatally striking his landlord in his 60s with a blunt weapon at a villa in Chang-dong, Dobong-gu, around 5 p.m. the previous day, and applied for an arrest warrant on the same day.
Mr. A turned himself in by calling 112 immediately after the crime. It is known that he had frequently requested interior repairs from the landlord, but became dissatisfied and committed the crime after the landlord ignored his requests and treated him as if he had a mental illness.
Since moving in last November, Mr. A had requested repairs several times, and on the day of the incident, when the landlord came to inspect the house in response to Mr. A's request and said, "Isn't this okay enough?" he committed the crime.
The police believe that Mr. A's crime was more impulsive than premeditated. However, it is known that Mr. A has no prior convictions of the same kind or records of psychiatric treatment.
