DL E&C Accelerates Efforts in CCUS Business
Cumulative Orders of 1 Trillion KRW by 2024, Achieving Annual Sales of 2 Trillion KRW by 2030
Targeting the Global Market with Customized Solutions to Realize ESG Vision
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Kim] On the 17th, DL E&C unveiled a blueprint to grow into a company that provides comprehensive solutions across the entire Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) business, which is recognized as a core element of carbon neutrality. CCUS is an eco-friendly technology that stores emitted carbon or converts it into high value-added products.
DL E&C plans to leverage its technology and experience in the CCUS business to become a partner that offers customized solutions enabling customers to realize carbon neutrality and ESG visions. The company aims to expand its global carbon business not only domestically but also in Australia, North America, the Middle East, and Europe. Additionally, it plans to build a sustainable growth model that operates businesses recycling captured carbon into building materials and storing it in abandoned oil fields or depleted gas fields.
In the carbon capture EPC sector, DL E&C aims to achieve cumulative orders of 1 trillion KRW domestically and internationally from this year through 2024, maintain an annual order scale of around 1 trillion KRW steadily from 2025 to 2027 through global market penetration, and further expand orders to about 2 trillion KRW annually by 2030. Through this, the company expects to achieve annual sales of 2 trillion KRW solely from the CCUS business by 2030.
Investments in CCUS by companies are also accelerating. Compared to renewable energy, which has been considered a major alternative for carbon reduction, the investment cost burden is lower. Since it can be immediately applied on-site to achieve carbon reduction effects, many companies are actively adopting it. According to the global market research firm Industriaq, the global CCUS market size is projected to reach 25.3 billion USD by 2026.
DL E&C is conducting various projects based on its experience commercializing Korea’s first carbon capture plant and its plant design capability to capture up to 1 million tons of carbon annually, the largest in the world. It has signed an MOU for a carbon capture project at a waste treatment facility with Seohae Green Environment and is promoting Korea’s first carbon-negative factory construction project with Seohae Green Energy.
