Jeju Island Launches Full-Scale Marketing to Revitalize Marine Leisure Tourism
Total Efforts to Secure the Marine Leisure Market and Attract Tourists in Preparation for COVID-19 Normalization
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 16th that it will actively carry out online and offline marketing activities to revitalize marine leisure tourism in Jeju in preparation for the post-COVID-19 recovery.
Recently, with the spread of COVID-19, interest in nature-friendly rest and experiential tourism has increased, leading to a surge in demand for marine leisure tourism.
Accordingly, Jeju Province plans to make an all-out effort to attract marine leisure tourists by securing the marine leisure market and fostering related industries in cooperation with the Jeju Marine Leisure Association.
This year, Jeju Province will invest a total budget of 55 million KRW in online and offline marketing to revitalize marine leisure tourism.
The main projects include ▲participation in large-scale domestic marine leisure exhibitions and operation of Jeju promotional booths ▲operation and management of the Jeju Marine Leisure application ▲production of maps showing Jeju marine leisure spots and marine leisure businesses ▲online marketing using SNS and YouTube ▲building networks with domestic marine cities and marine leisure organizations and groups.
Jwa Im-cheol, Director of the Jeju Provincial Government’s Marine and Fisheries Bureau, said, “We are striving to attract marine leisure tourists to foster Jeju’s marine leisure tourism industry and revitalize the local economy amid the COVID-19 situation,” adding, “We will actively promote various marketing efforts to widely publicize Jeju’s excellent marine leisure resources both domestically and internationally.”
Meanwhile, Jeju Province plans to hold a total of four marine leisure events this year to revitalize Jeju marine leisure tourism, including the 1st Marine Leisure Content Festa, the 1st Marine Leisure Festival, the 3rd International Motor Surf Festival, and the 3rd Jeju International Marine Leisure Expo.
