Gyeonggi-do to Provide Up to 1 Million Won in Living Scholarships to Youth
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will provide up to 1 million won as a 'Youth Living Scholarship' to students from financially disadvantaged families.
Gyeonggi Province announced that it will accept applications for the 'Youth Living Scholarship,' which provides an annual scholarship of 700,000 to 1 million won to economically disadvantaged middle and high school students and out-of-school youth in the province, from March 14 to 25.
The province plans to select recipients of the Youth Living Scholarship from economically disadvantaged middle and high school students and out-of-school youth who are recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security, legally designated lower-income groups, emergency welfare or Gyeonggi Province-type emergency welfare beneficiaries, and lifelong education facility students. Middle school students will receive 700,000 won, and high school students will receive 1 million won, paid in two installments in April and September respectively.
This year, the support targets include 4,702 middle school students, 5,182 high school students, and 518 out-of-school youth, totaling 10,402 individuals.
Youth and parents wishing to apply can do so at the administrative welfare centers in their resident registration area, such as eup, myeon, or dong. For detailed inquiries about the living scholarship, contact the youth department of the city or county or the relevant eup, myeon, or dong administrative welfare center, or refer to the announcements on the Gyeonggi Province or city/county websites.
