Democratic Party Gwangju Election Committee Disbandment Ceremony: "We Will Reflect Deeply and Reform"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Democratic Party of Korea's Gwangju Gi Eonchi Election Countermeasures Committee held a closing ceremony after completing the campaign activities for the 20th presidential election.
The closing ceremony held on the afternoon of the 10th at the Gwangju Metropolitan City Party Office's main conference room was attended by Song Gap-seok, chairman of the Gwangju City Party, and the Gi Eonchi campaign committee's 2030 campaign members.
Launched on November 28 last year, the Gwangju Gi Eonchi campaign committee was the first regional campaign committee to be established in the area, and candidate Lee Jae-myung personally attended the inauguration ceremony.
The Democratic Party's campaign committee was restructured to be composed of the 2030 generation, announcing a reform, and notably appointed a 19-year-old high school student as the campaign committee chairman, signaling a bold move.
Chairman Song Gap-seok stated, "I am grateful and sorry to the citizens of Gwangju," adding, "We will reflect deeply and pursue reform fiercely."
Song said, "In this presidential election, Gwangju delivered a clear message to the metropolitan area and the nation by achieving a record early voting rate, aiming for the establishment of the 4th Democratic government," but added, "However, the Democratic Party was insufficient to realize the hopes of Gwangju citizens. I am ashamed. I apologize."
He continued, "Although we did not create the 4th Democratic government, we will devote all our efforts to fulfilling the will of the citizens of Gwangju," emphasizing, "We will steadfastly push forward political reform to complete the candlelight public sentiment."
