Kim Dong-yeon: "I believe Yoon will not disappoint as the president called forth by the people"
"Although the ruling and opposition parties have changed, the two-party political structure has been strengthened... Political change is absolutely necessary"
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Kim Dong-yeon, leader of the New Wave party, said on the 10th to President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol, "I believe you will not disappoint the people, as a president called forth by the people." Earlier, Kim had withdrawn from the presidential race in the middle and declared his support for Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party candidate.
On the same day, Kim wrote on his Facebook, "I will remember together with the people President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's words that regime change means political change, and his promise of a government of national unity," expressing his thoughts.
He said, "I congratulate President-elect Yoon. I also extend my sincere condolences to the losing candidates, including candidate Lee," adding, "The biggest issue of this presidential election was breaking vested interests, starting with political change."
He continued, "Although the ruling and opposition parties have changed, the two-party political structure has rather been strengthened. The country has been split into two," pointing out, and emphasized, "Reconciliation between winners and losers, national unity, and political change to break the vested political structure are absolutely necessary."
