Korea's Leading Marine Leisure Industry Exhibition 'Gyeonggi International Boat Show' Opens on the 11th
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The '2022 Gyeonggi International Boat Show,' Korea's representative marine leisure industry exhibition, will be held for three days from the 11th to the 13th at KINTEX in Goyang and 'Aramarina' in Gimpo.
The Gyeonggi International Boat Show has been held since 2008 by Gyeonggi Province and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to expand the base of the marine leisure industry and broaden sales channels. Due to COVID-19, the event was either canceled or held online only, but this year it will be held offline for the first time in three years.
Especially this year, the event will be a comprehensive marine leisure industry exhibition featuring not only boats and yachts but also water sports, non-motorized boats, marine parts, and marine safety equipment. It will be conducted as a hybrid exhibition with 152 companies, 1,020 booths, and about 600 online contents along with an online exhibition hall.
Considering the recent surge in onboard fishing, the Korea Fishing Expo and the Gyeonggi Sea Marine Tourism Exhibition, which embodies the tourism industry vision of the marine leisure industry, will also be prepared.
The main event programs include ▲an online export consultation meeting to expand sales channels for participating companies ▲marine leisure product live commerce, which received favorable reviews in 2021 ▲and a professional conference on the theme of 'Strategies for Developing Overseas Export Markets for Small and Medium Shipyards' with the Korea Shipbuilding Industry Cooperative.
The province will also exhibit boats of various sizes and purposes for actual users through collaboration with marine leisure clubs. At Aramarina in Gimpo, boat mooring and docking training as well as marine engine maintenance education will be conducted.
Kim Chung-beom, Director of the Agricultural and Marine Affairs Bureau of the province, said, "It is meaningful to be able to hold the Gyeonggi International Boat Show offline again after three years," adding, "We have prepared various events so that diverse products and contents of the marine leisure industry can be experienced both on-site and online."
