Gochang Green Barley Field Festival Selected as '2022 Korea Representative Brand'
[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] The Gochang Green Barley Field Festival in Jeonbuk has been selected as the representative brand of Korea's Ecotourism Festival.
According to the county on the 8th, the ‘Gochang Green Barley Field Festival’ was recently chosen as the representative brand in the Ecotourism Festival category of the ‘2022 Korea Representative Brand Awards,’ hosted by DongA.com, imbc, and Hankyung.com, and sponsored by Dong-A Ilbo and Korea Economic Daily.
The ‘Korea Representative Brand Awards’ is the most prestigious domestic brand award established to identify the best brands loved and popular among consumers and to widely promote them to consumers and related industries.
Now in its 18th year, the ‘Green Barley Field Festival’ is held annually for about a month from mid-April to mid-May over approximately 1 million square meters around Hakwon Farm in Gong-eum-myeon, Gochang-gun.
Since its first opening in 2003, about 500,000 people from all over the country visit every year.
During the festival, various programs such as walking through the barley field paths, playing the barley flute, traditional folk games, art performances, tasting barley dishes, and selling local agricultural specialties are held.
The county is promoting 1,800 hectares of distinctive scenic districts by region this year.
In particular, the canola flower complex covers 1,400 hectares (equivalent to 1,909 soccer fields), raising expectations for the spectacular yellow waves of the Gochang fields this spring.
A county official said, “Along with the Green Barley Field Festival, we will attract tourists through scenic agriculture in Gochang, the first capital of the Korean Peninsula, revitalize the local economy, and create a prosperous Gochang where everyone can live well.”
