Police Launch Field Idea Contest to Protect Public Safety... Starting Tomorrow
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The police are launching an idea contest targeting on-site police officers to efficiently respond to various disaster accidents and security situations.
On the 6th, the National Police Agency announced that, in collaboration with the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the National Fire Agency, and the Korea Coast Guard, it will start accepting ideas for the "5th National Safety Invention Challenge" from field public officials starting the next day. The contest will be held online until May 31. Submitted ideas will undergo evaluation by field and intellectual property experts, and a final selection of 24 ideas will be made. Selected ideas will receive consulting support from professional patent institutions in the future.
The ideas will go through a final review in September, and the winners will be decided. Follow-up measures for the winning ideas include ▲exhibition and promotion ▲subsequent research and development (R&D) ▲technology transfer to private companies. Awards from the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency (total prize money of 14.6 million KRW) will also be given. A National Police Agency official stated, "We will actively support this opportunity to discover ideas that can solve difficulties in security fields and secure the safety of on-site police officers and the public."
