'Sound of Light' Returns After 3 Years... Hanmi Pharm & MPO Sharing Concert Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The ‘Light of Sound Sharing Concert’ to help children with developmental disabilities and other challenges was held again after three years.
Hanmi Pharmaceutical announced on the 4th that it held the ‘8th Light of Sound Sharing Concert’ on the 26th of last month at Jangcheon Hall, Kwanglim Art Center, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, together with the ‘Medical Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO).’
MPO is an orchestra composed of active doctors who graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine. Since 2013, MPO has held the ‘Light of Sound Sharing Concert’ annually with Hanmi Pharmaceutical to support children with disabilities. However, due to the impact of COVID-19, the concert was not held in 2020 and 2021, and this year the event resumed after three years.
Hanmi Pharmaceutical and MPO raise the ‘Light of Sound Hope Fund’ through the concert and use this fund for art education for children with disabilities. Currently, they support three groups: ‘Eoullimdan,’ a children’s ensemble at Seongdong Disabled Welfare Center; ‘Hanullim Ensemble’ at The Sarang Welfare Center; and ‘Sogumnori Choir’ at Samsung Sorisaem Welfare Center. Even in 2020 and 2021, when the concert was not held, Hanmi Pharmaceutical supported cultural and artistic activities for children and youth with disabilities through matching grant donations.
Park Min-jong, MPO director (Professor of Orthopedics at Samsung Seoul Hospital), said, “I feel proud to see disabled youth grow and achieve their dreams through the continuous support of the Light of Sound Hope Fund despite COVID-19,” adding, “We will continue to help children with disabilities realize their self-identity and strive to create a warmer society.”
