Gokseong-gun Operates 'Free Selected Agent System' for Local Tax Appeals

[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jongseon] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 4th that it is operating the ‘Local Government Selected Agent System’ to assist small taxpayers in filing objections such as local tax appeals.

Many small taxpayers hesitate to file objections even if they have disputes over the imposed local taxes. This is because the complicated procedures and the costs associated with filing objections are burdensome.

The Selected Agent System is operated to resolve such difficulties faced by small taxpayers and to provide practical relief of their rights.

Users can receive free support from tax agents when requesting pre-assessment review, filing objections, or appeals.

The local government appoints tax accountants, certified public accountants, lawyers, etc. as agents, who perform agency tasks related to filing objections such as reviewing laws, providing consultation, and supplementing evidence documents for taxpayers.

The support target is individual taxpayers with a claim or application tax amount of 10 million KRW or less; corporations, high-amount, and habitual delinquents are not eligible for support.

The total property value including spouse must be 500 million KRW or less, and the comprehensive income amount must be 50 million KRW or less.

Applications can be made at the county office civil service center or each eup/myeon office where forms are available, and can also be obtained via email through the responsible department, the Finance Division Taxation Team.

A county official said, “It is not easy to file a local tax objection alone. If you believe the local tax was incorrectly imposed, we hope you actively use the Selected Agent System to protect your rights as a taxpayer.”
