Melinda: "I Disliked Bill Gates' Friendship with Epstein"
First Emotional Statement After Divorce
"Multiple Factors Contributed to the Breakup"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyun-ui Cho] Melinda French Gates (photo), the ex-wife of Microsoft (MS) co-founder Bill Gates, revealed on the 3rd (local time) that there were several factors that brought an end to their 27-year marriage, including Bill Gates' association with minor sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In an interview with CBS on the same day, Melinda said, "It was not a single moment or a specific event that led to the divorce. At some point, I realized that the relationship with my ex-husband was not healthy." This is the first time she has spoken about her feelings regarding the divorce since announcing their separation in May last year.
Bill Gates' frequent meetings with minor sex offender Epstein were among the reasons behind the couple's divorce. Melinda said, "I disliked him (Gates) meeting Epstein," and "I made that clear to Gates."
She added, "I met Epstein once and regretted it the moment I saw him," describing him as "the personification of disgust and evil. After meeting him, I had nightmares."
Regarding Gates' affair with a female employee at MS in 2000, Melinda stated, "I definitely believe in forgiveness. I believe we have worked through that part with my ex-husband." When asked if there were other affairs, she replied, "That is a question Bill Gates should answer."
