Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Conducts Safety Inspections at 2,261 Construction Sites Nationwide in Preparation for Thaw Season
A Total of 1,475 Personnel Deployed from the 4th for 25 Days... 40% Conduct Unannounced Inspections
[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 4th that it will conduct safety inspections at construction sites nationwide until the 8th of next month in preparation for the spring thaw season.
This inspection targets 2,261 construction sites nationwide, including roads, railways, airports, and buildings. Among the inspection targets, 40% will be inspected unexpectedly to normalize safety management through supervision and control.
During the thaw season, the ground repeatedly freezes and thaws, causing loosening and increasing the risk of safety accidents such as slope collapses.
The Ministry plans to deploy a total of 1,475 personnel, including employees and experts from regional land management offices, the Korea Land and Safety Management Institute, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), and Korea Expressway Corporation (EX), to focus inspections on vulnerable areas such as temporary retaining structures.
They will also monitor attendance and work performance of construction project management technicians and supervisors, proper placement of quality managers, and whether they hold concurrent positions in other jobs.
