View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) has completed the establishment of the ‘Living Safety View’ service utilizing Seongdong Smart Road View and began operation this month.
The ‘Living Safety View,’ easily accessible through the Seongdong-gu Office website, provides a total of eight categories of living safety information, including multipurpose CCTV, unmanned secure parcel lockers, emergency bells, smart rest areas, traffic accident-prone areas, child safety houses, women’s safe return routes, and residential safety zones (areas with enhanced patrols and other measures).
Unlike existing living safety data scattered across various sites that require searching each time, this service allows users to view diverse living safety information all at once. It also enables checking the conditions of streets and alleys as if being on-site, providing detailed views of narrow alleys where emergency bells and similar devices are installed, accessible only by pedestrians, through the screen.
Through collaboration with Seongdong Police Station (since November 2021), the district shares related data such as traffic accident-prone areas and has pledged active cooperation between the two institutions for citizen safety. The district has enhanced functions to allow police and district officials to efficiently utilize the service for on-site situation assessment and work processing.
The dual-screen function enables simultaneous viewing of the map and road view, making it easier to confirm locations and information. Address search allows immediate access to information on nearby living safety facilities. Additionally, internal network surveys on desired filming locations have increased practical use by field workers.
The district has completed information construction on areas designed with living safety (crime prevention) design and the concentrated residential waste management area in Sageun-dong (selected as an excellent case of Seoul City civil service improvement in 2021) and plans to actively disclose related data through ‘Living Safety View.’
In 2020, the district directly filmed and released narrow alleys, stairs, tunnels, etc., through ‘Smart Road View.’ Last year, it added about 55 km of major neighborhood parks and waterfront trails, including Eungbongsan, Songjeong Embankment Road, and Seoul Forest, with approximately 3,000 points, providing a vivid on-site experience of Seongdong-gu’s diverse seasonal scenes such as Daehyeonsan Rose Garden through ‘Theme Road View.’
Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “We hope that the Living Safety View service will help citizens live more safely,” and added, “We will continue to make every effort to discover various digital services available through collaboration with Seongdong Police Station as a public service following the launch of the autonomous police system, actively contributing to citizens’ lives.”
Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seong Chang-hyun) has published the 2021 Yongsan Youth Jium Annual Report to promote usage by sharing the operational achievements of Youth Jium last year.
Since April 2021, Smile Hoon (Instagram ID), who used Youth Jium, sent a direct message saying, “The facilities, cleanliness, and staff are all well-prepared without any shortcomings,” and “Thanks to spending my job search period wisely at Jium, I recently got a job at a large corporation.”
Located near Yongsan Station, Yongsan Youth Jium opened in November 2020. It is the largest youth space in Seoul (710㎡), equipped with a mini cinema, exhibition hall, book lounge, healing room, shared kitchen, and more, providing space rental and customized youth support projects.
In 2021, the number of visitors to Youth Jium was 9,452, with 87.6% of users expressing satisfaction. Online channel management for space promotion and branding resulted in 1,566 Instagram followers and 14,709 blog views.
Main projects included ▲Youth Activity Experiment ▲Youth Exchange Formation ▲Youth Education ▲1st Anniversary Event, with a total participation of 1,874 people.
Youth Activity Experiment supported content creation that resonates with citizens through the ‘Addition Project’ and ‘Jium Laboratory,’ where youth become instructors sharing their content. Youth Exchange Formation support included ‘Zero Base Community Starter’ for nurturing and supporting community youth leaders and ‘Connectors’ to promote face-to-face and non-face-to-face exchanges.
Programs such as ‘Jiumtopia,’ where youth take responsibility from planning to execution and completion, as well as crafts and mental care, were also operated.
Kim Euddeum (pseudonym, 35), who participated in the scent meditation workshop, left a review saying, “I couldn’t reflect on myself because I thought I had to endure 15 years of living away from home in Seoul,” and “I am truly grateful to Yongsan Youth Jium for helping me discover myself.”
The 2021 Yongsan Youth Jium Annual Report was produced in 12 pages, measuring 148 mm wide by 210 mm high, with 500 copies. The electronic file of the report can be found on Youth Jium’s Instagram, blog, and KakaoTalk channels.
This year, the district will continue youth-tailored programs, space operation, and facility rental, while also activating youth policy governance centered on Youth Jium.
Seong Chang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “Job insecurity and soaring housing prices weigh heavily on young people,” and added, “We will spare no support to help Youth Jium become an online and offline platform where today’s youth can realize their dreams.”
On the 25th of last month, the district also published a casebook on the 2021 Yongsan Youth Jium Youth Exchange Formation Support Project to share cases of building youth networks that respect diversity.
Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Sung) is offering various programs for job seekers at ‘Youth Irum.’
Guro-gu stated on the 3rd, “Youth Irum was opened in May 2020 to provide a space where young people preparing for employment can plan their future and interact with others,” and “This year, programs to help youth find jobs will continue.”
Located on the basement first floor of Cheonwang Station (1130 Ori-ro), ‘Youth Irum’ is a total job platform space offering job search education programs and free/paid spaces. It includes study rooms, counseling rooms, and classrooms. Last year, it opened an ‘AI·VR Interview Experience Center’ to help youth adapt to the new non-face-to-face interview method.
Youth Irum operates counseling programs where career counselors provide personalized job information. These include ‘Sodam Sodam General Counseling,’ which introduces employment-related programs and suggests job search directions in one session, and ‘Zero Base In-depth Counseling,’ which offers in-depth counseling over five weeks in stages.
A mock interview experience program using virtual reality (VR) technology is also provided. Participants learn interview skills from professional instructors and practice their weak points. When participants select the job field and company they want to apply for, a virtual interviewer appears and conducts an interview based on past questions.
‘Customizing’ support is also available for the overall employment process, including resume and portfolio writing and interview preparation.
Youth aged 15 to 39 can use Youth Irum. Detailed information on program schedules, application methods, and periods can be found on the ‘Guro Youth Space Youth Irum’ website.
Youth Irum is recruiting participants for the ‘Everyone Hard Carry’ program until the 14th. Youths performing roles such as developers, designers, and data marketers form teams, select project missions, and work until May. Each team receives support from job-specific mentors, facilitators, and coordinators.
A Guro-gu official said, “We hope young people can realize their dreams at Youth Irum through these programs,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to prepare various support measures to help youth find jobs.”
The names of two district libraries in Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol), scheduled to open in the first half of this year, have been finalized as ‘Hwikyung Happiness Library’ and ‘Yongdu Harmony Library’ through a public contest.
The district held a contest from January 19 to 29 for 10 days, targeting residents and employees, to assign creative names reflecting local characteristics and the symbolic nature of the facilities for the two district libraries under construction, aiming for opening in the first half of this year.
A total of 120 people participated in the naming contest, including 71 residents and 49 Dongdaemun-gu employees. After the first review by the responsible department and district library directors, 10 candidate names per library were selected.
Subsequently, a staff preference survey was conducted on the candidates, with 587 participants. Based on the survey results, the second naming selection committee finalized one grand prize and two excellence awards for each library.
The library built in the LH Hwikyung Happiness Apartment, a university student-specialized complex, was named ‘Hwikyung Happiness Library’ (323 Jangan Cherry Blossom Road), meaning a space where anyone can come to dream and achieve a happy present and future.
Also, the name of the small library donated through the Yongdu 5 District Housing Redevelopment Project was decided as ‘Yongdu Harmony Small Library’ (89 Muhak Road), symbolizing a space where neighbors and nature harmonize.
The grand prize winner will receive a cultural gift certificate worth 200,000 KRW, and excellence award winners will receive 100,000 KRW each.
