"If a Prosecutor General Becomes President,
Checks and Balances of Power and the Principle of Separation of Powers
Will Collapse"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 23rd, "South Korea is not a newly independent country politically mired in chaos, so if a former Prosecutor General becomes president, the tense relationship between the Blue House and the prosecution will immediately collapse, and the principles of checks and balances of power and the separation of powers will be undermined."
He also said, "Regarding the existence of 'Geubun' in the Daejang-dong case, Yoon Seok-yeol, who has been attacking candidate Lee Jae-myung, went beyond election negativity and spread false information. This is a criminal charge corresponding to a disqualification from election."
On the same day, Song said on social media (SNS), "I want to point out two key points related to Daejang-dong during the first legal TV debate on the 21st." He said, "So far, the recordings involving Kim Man-bae and others have never revealed who 'Geubun' is. Rather, there was a recording stating it was not Lee Jae-myung, and Lee Jung-soo, head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, confirmed that it was not Lee Jae-myung," adding, "Finally, there was a statement that 'Geubun' is a 'Supreme Court Justice.'"
However, Cho Jae-yeon, a Supreme Court Justice who was recently identified as 'Geubun,' completely denied it at a press conference on the same day, calling it "groundless" and describing it as a "serious defamation."

Song also said, "The Daejang-dong gate and Yoon Seok-yeol gate started with candidate Yoon Seok-yeol himself," adding, "If Yoon, then head of the Central Investigation Department's second division, had conducted a proper investigation, there would have been no other corruption following the Busan Savings Bank bad loan scandal." He pointed out, "We are now facing a candidate who believes that lifelong investigation and using oppression and fear as weapons can easily solve worldly affairs," and warned, "A ruler who uses oppression as a weapon will bring a crisis to our democracy."
