[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] SK Telecom signed a business agreement with Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital (hereinafter Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital) on the 23rd for AI-based care call services to manage the health of discharged patients.

Through this agreement, SKT and Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital will provide AI-based care call services starting from July this year, which include checking the postoperative condition of discharged patients, assisting with necessary measures, guiding major examination schedules, and confirming hospital visits. They also plan to jointly develop content for self-health management of local elderly using the health information possessed by Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital.

The AI-based care call service is based on SKT’s proprietary ‘NUGU bizcall’ platform, which allows partners to easily and conveniently create call scenarios themselves, adding a distinctive advantage to the service.

‘NUGU bizcall’ has been utilized in AI quarantine through the ‘NUGU carecall’ service and its operational stability has been verified. SKT plans to expand partnerships with various medical institutions using ‘NUGU bizcall’. NUGU carecall is an AI quarantine service where AI makes calls on behalf of quarantine workers to monitor COVID-19 self-quarantine subjects.

Meanwhile, SKT and Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital will jointly develop AI-based content for self-health management of local elderly, and create programs to provide non-face-to-face health information in cooperation with local government health centers and dementia relief centers, aiming to establish health management programs for the centenarian era.

Since 2019, SKT has been the first in Korea to launch the ‘AI Care’ service based on the AI NUGU platform, and has expanded the service to more than 12,000 households under the jurisdiction of 70 local governments and care institutions.

There have been a total of 189 emergency rescue cases for the elderly through the AI care service so far, and to enhance the emergency rescue service, SKT signed a business agreement with the Fire Agency in June last year for the advancement of emergency SOS services.
