"1 Million Lost" Samsung Securities Targets MZ Generation... YouTube Content "Complete Overhaul"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Samsung Securities is fully revamping its official YouTube channel (Samsung Pop) by placing innovative content that targets the tastes of the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) at the forefront. The proportion of MZ generation viewers, which was only in the single digits at the end of 2019, has significantly increased to around 40% as of early this month, and through this revamp, the strategy is to attract even more young viewers.
According to Samsung Securities on the 23rd, the new content will start with a teaser video the day before and will be styled differently every day from Monday to Friday.
First, every Friday, an investment variety show called 'MBTI Investment Talk Show' will be uploaded. Since it is Friday, the content is designed to allow viewers to laugh and enjoy lightly while welcoming the weekend, and at the same time study investment.
The MBTI Investment Talk Show is content that examines investment decisions based on MBTI personality types, which are considered the 'second blood type' among the MZ generation. It features various 20-something novice investors with diverse personalities. The cast is divided into the F (Feeling) team and the T (Thinking) team, which are criteria that distinguish judgment styles, showing responses to various investment situations. Afterwards, Samsung Securities experts provide investment advice on which team’s approach is more appropriate.
The MBTI Investment Talk Show is hosted by 'Junkong,' a YouTuber with 280,000 subscribers, and features panelists such as the famous dancer 'Song Hee-su,' who recently appeared on the popular show 'Street Girls Fighter.'
Also, every Monday and Friday, 'VocaNomics' and 'Mimglish' will be introduced to learn the English expressions of stock market-related terms. 'VocaNomics' covers English expressions commonly used in the stock market such as 'upward trend' and 'sideways movement,' while 'Mimglish' introduces hot investment-related neologisms in the U.S., such as 'To the moon,' a term that emerged last year wishing for the surge of Dogecoin. This is expected to be a refreshing source of information for the recently increased 'Seohak Ants' and 'Smart Ants' who check investment information directly through foreign news. 'VocaNomics' and 'Mimglish' are produced as short-form videos within about one minute, allowing viewers to check them anytime and anywhere without burden.
In addition, every Tuesday, 'Investment Fairy Tales,' which studies investment through stories from childhood fairy tales everyone grew up watching, will be uploaded; every Wednesday, 'Investment Wisdom Learned from War History,' based on historical facts; and every Thursday, 'These Days’ Stocks,' a quiz on stock terms used by the MZ generation, will be uploaded sequentially.
Lee Dae-hee, head of the Media Strategy Team at Samsung Securities, said, "We have been striving not only to provide in-depth investment information content but also to discover customized content tailored to customer characteristics." He added, "Through this revamp, we will significantly increase the fun element in addition to the informative strength of our YouTube channel to make it an investment playground for the MZ generation."

Meanwhile, Samsung Pop surpassed 1.07 million subscribers based on diverse content and recorded 70 million cumulative views last year, the first in the industry. It is analyzed that the frequent provision of qualitatively excellent investment information content in various concepts attracted investors’ attention. In fact, reflecting the increasing demand for video investment information content, Samsung Securities established a dedicated YouTube team called the 'Media Strategy Team' last year and has been accelerating communication through YouTube by uploading about 70 pieces of content per month on average.
