On the 22nd, Changwon City signed a business agreement with Changwon National University for the 'Secondary Battery Specialized Graduate School Support Project.'
Unlike primary batteries that are used once and discarded, secondary batteries can be recharged and used semi-permanently, making them notable as eco-friendly components.
Both parties agreed to collaborate on establishing and operating the specialized graduate school, supporting it, building a cooperative system with companies and research institutions for professional workforce training, and exchanging and cooperating in human and material resources.
In particular, the city decided to support the establishment and operation of the specialized graduate school with a total of 300 million KRW from this year through 2024. Changwon National University plans to open the specialized graduate school as early as next year. The university will start developing master's and doctoral curricula in the secondary battery industry, centered on the Department of Chemical Engineering.
They plan to operate specialized education programs such as industry-academia projects reflecting industrial demand. The city will also pursue securing national funding by attracting government specialized graduate school public projects.
The city expects that once the secondary battery specialized graduate school is established, it will actively nurture excellent local talent, create jobs for young people, and supply skilled personnel to battery-related companies located in the city.
