Incheon City, Nationwide First to Fully Support Necessary Expenses for 5-Year-Olds in Daycare Centers
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City announced on the 22nd that it will fully cover the necessary expenses borne by parents for 5-year-old children attending daycare centers starting next month. This is the first implementation among all cities and provinces nationwide.
The support amount per child is up to 175,000 KRW per month, and the target beneficiaries are 7,800 5-year-old children attending daycare centers in Incheon. For the convenience of parents, daycare centers will apply for the support funds to the childcare departments of each district or county.
The necessary expenses borne by parents include actual costs for special activities at daycare centers, field trips, vehicle operations, etc., with parents having shouldered an additional cost of about 1.9 million KRW per child annually.
