Recruitment of Trainees for 527 Vocational Training Courses in 16 Fields at 23 Women's Development Centers and Women's Workforce Development Centers
Promotion of Online Education Activation through Establishment of Online Studios within Women's Development Centers
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 22nd that it will recruit 527 trainees for vocational training courses through the Woman Up institution to overcome the prolonged employment crisis for women caused by COVID-19.
Seoul is focusing on vocational education and training, providing internships, and promoting online courses. This measure takes into account the on-site situation last year when training courses were reduced due to compliance with COVID-19 quarantine guidelines. Despite difficulties in education due to the COVID-19 situation last year, a total of 885 courses were operated, and 7,557 people, or 61.6%, were linked to employment or entrepreneurship.
The courses are offered in various fields such as IT/SW, marketing/public relations, finance and accounting, design/beauty/food, culture and arts/services. This year, high value-added job training courses such as AI Convergence Maker Education Content Developer, Graphic Communication Designer, and Big Data Convergence Front End Developer will be promoted to cultivate professionals who meet the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.
Among the Seoul-supported courses last year, 25 Women’s Future Job training programs that supported the entire process from professional vocational education to employment recruited 420 people, with 405 completing the courses, showing a completion rate of 96.4%. Of those who completed, 73%, or 296 people, succeeded in employment or entrepreneurship. This year, Women’s Future Jobs will be reorganized and promoted by supporting regionally specialized training courses and women’s vocational training according to life cycles.
Women in Seoul who wish to participate in vocational training courses at Seoul’s women’s workforce development institutions can check the training schedule and apply through the Seoul Women’s Competency Development Center website or by visiting the nearest Women’s Development Center or Women’s Workforce Development Center.
Meanwhile, to overcome the employment crisis caused by COVID-19 last year, Seoul established the ‘Seoul Woman Up Internship’ training program to help gain job experience in public institutions and facilitate employment connections. This year, the ‘Seoul Woman Up Internship’ training program plans to expand its operation to the private sector.
