[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Education is establishing Dokdo Experience Centers by city and province to promote a correct understanding of Dokdo and raise awareness of territorial sovereignty, and will operate customized experience programs tailored to each school level.
On the 21st, the Ministry of Education announced the "2022 Dokdo Education Activation Plan." It includes completing the Dokdo experience infrastructure in all 17 cities and provinces nationwide and strengthening field-centered support for Dokdo education.
The Ministry of Education will operate Dokdo Experience Centers in all 17 cities and provinces nationwide. A new Dokdo Experience Center will be built for the Gangwon Office of Education, and six outdated Dokdo Experience Centers in Incheon, Daejeon, Gyeonggi, Chungbuk, Jeonnam, and Gyeongnam Offices of Education will be renovated and reopened.
Within this year, the Dokdo Experience Center of the Northeast Asian History Foundation will be expanded and relocated, with reopening scheduled for August, and projects to establish Dokdo Experience Centers for the Busan and Jeonbuk Offices of Education will also be promoted.
This year as well, schools will autonomously select one week throughout the year as "Dokdo Education Week" according to their educational environment conditions and operate it.
The Ministry of Education will distribute experience-centered educational materials developed with related organizations tailored to school levels and types of disabilities, and will also promote the development of digital-based Dokdo education content that encourages students' interest and participation. Additionally, by operating Dokdo Guardian Schools and Dokdo Education Research Schools, the Ministry will share and spread on-site Dokdo education methods, and enhance teachers' expertise through basic literacy education related to Dokdo and field trips to Ulleungdo and Dokdo.
Cooperation with Dokdo-related institutions will be strengthened to actively promote the establishment of our territorial sovereignty in the world.
