Jeonnam Province to Establish Smart Museums and Art Galleries
Selected for Ministry of Culture Contest Project... Secured 900 Million KRW in National Funding
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province is embarking on the creation of smart museums and art galleries.
On the 20th, the province announced that five public museums and art galleries, including Gangjin Dasan Museum, were selected in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's 2022 Smart Museum and Art Gallery Infrastructure Development Project.
Accordingly, the project will be carried out with a total budget of 1.8 billion KRW, including 900 million KRW in national funding.
The Smart Museum and Art Gallery Infrastructure Development project is an initiative to develop new content for museums and art galleries using future technologies in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, providing visitors with unique cultural experience services.
The project is promoted in two areas: the establishment of smart museums and art galleries, and the production of immersive content and creation of experience zones.
For the Smart Public Museum and Art Gallery Establishment Support Project, four institutions were selected: Gangjin Dasan Museum, Yeongam Ceramic Museum, Gosan Yun Seondo Relics Exhibition Hall, and Muan County Oh Seung-woo Art Museum. For the Immersive Content Production and Experience Zone Creation Project, Haenam Dinosaur Museum was selected.
The Smart Public Museum and Art Gallery Establishment Project involves building intelligent systems tailored to each institution's characteristics through the production of non-face-to-face exhibition content and development of exhibition guidance systems using the latest information and communication technologies (ICT) such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT).
Gangjin Dasan Museum will implement smart exhibition experience services by establishing an online and non-face-to-face remote education system utilizing smart exhibition experiences, and a virtual reality (VR) platform to three-dimensionally realize information on the excavation, preservation, and exhibition of Dasan relics.
Yeongam Ceramic Museum will develop a smart cultural content system through a smart curator system (docent service) using IoT and the establishment of an archive of its collection.
Gosan Yun Seondo Relics Exhibition Hall will enhance the delivery of exhibition content by building an archive including digital restoration of its collection and developing immersive content for a smart media archive wall.
Muan County Oh Seung-woo Art Museum will establish a sustainable exhibition system for the smart IT era by building an online virtual reality art gallery and an augmented reality (AR) smart docent app.
The Public Museum and Art Gallery Immersive Content Production and Experience Zone Creation Support Project produces digital content using immersive technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, holograms, interactive media, 4D movie video systems (4DX), and media facades based on museum and gallery resources, and creates experience zones to offer visitors various experiential programs.
Haenam Dinosaur Museum plans to develop converged dinosaur content that enables on-site immersive experiences by composing immersive content and experience zones utilizing dinosaur footprint fossils.
