What Should You Do If You Test Positive for COVID-19?
Produced an easy-to-understand video explaining home treatment methods to alleviate anxiety and discomfort... Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, guidance video available on the district office website and YouTube
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, created a video message to help residents who are anxious and inconvenienced by the rapid increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases understand how to manage home treatment easily.
First, Mayor Kim guided the revised social distancing measures announced on the 18th. According to the changed social distancing rules, from February 19 to March 13, for three weeks, the operating hours of restaurants and cafes will be extended to 10 p.m. However, the limit on private gatherings remains at six people.
Next, Mayor Kim explained in detail the response guidelines for home treatment, which residents have been curious about due to the increase in confirmed cases caused by the spread of Omicron.
Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “When confirmed positive, the public health center classifies the management targets and notifies them via text message,” adding, “Confirmed patients must isolate for seven days from the specimen collection date, and isolation is automatically lifted at midnight on the seventh day without any separate test or notification.”
Mayor Kim also conveyed health management methods. Elderly people aged 60 or older and those with underlying conditions are classified as intensive care groups and will be monitored by the public health center, while the general management group must check their health status themselves. The general management group can take comprehensive cold medicine if asymptomatic or mild symptoms appear during the isolation period.
Finally, he provided guidance on how to respond according to the situation. If treatment is needed, residents can receive telephone consultation and prescriptions at designated local clinics for non-face-to-face medical care. Prescribed medicine can be picked up by family members or proxies or delivered to the home.
If face-to-face treatment is required, residents should make a prior reservation at Gwangjin-gu Hyemin Hospital, a short-term outpatient treatment center, and visit by walking, private vehicle, or quarantine taxi. In case of emergency, call the Gwangjin-gu home treatment emergency call or 119.
At night, residents can call the Seoul Eastern Hospital Medical Consultation Center, which operates 24 hours.
Mayor Kim Seon-gap of Gwangjin-gu said, “Please take special care for three days even after isolation is lifted,” and added, “Gwangjin-gu will do its best to ensure safety so that there is no inconvenience during home treatment.”
He concluded the video by urging, “We ask all residents to strictly follow quarantine rules such as vaccination and wearing masks.”
