Porsche AG Unveils 'Macan T' for the First Time
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Porsche AG announced on the 17th that it will unveil the Macan T, featuring an even more agile and powerful dynamic setup, for the first time.
The Macan T is the first 4-door sports car to bear the ‘T’ designation, which stands for ‘Touring’ and was previously used only on the 911 and 718 models. It offers an exceptional driving experience unique to the T model through more refined settings, model-exclusive advanced equipment, and an efficient engine installation. It features an impressive dynamic setup and a lightweight 2-liter turbo engine that inherit the spirit of the 1968 Porsche 911 T, along with a robust design. Advanced equipment for sporty driving comes as standard. The Macan T is positioned between the Macan and Macan S.
Compared to the 2.9-liter 6-cylinder biturbo engines of the Macan S and GTS models, the Macan T’s powertrain reduces weight by 58.8 kg on the front axle, delivering excellent driving performance and optimized cornering.
Equipped with a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine producing a maximum output of 265 horsepower (PS) and a peak torque of 40.8 kg·m, the Macan T combines agility, lightweight construction, and compact design to achieve a perfect balance between weight and performance. Like other Macan models, it features a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system. The powerful torque delivered across a wide rpm range enables immediate acceleration in all driving situations. With the Sports Chrono Package including a mode switch and a Sport Response button on the steering wheel, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, with a top speed of 232 km/h.
The Macan T is the only Porsche model to combine a steel suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard and a body lowered by 15 millimeters. The anti-roll bar on the front axle is more robust, and chassis improvements provide a perfect suspension for the vehicle and powertrain, enabling highly responsive steering and agile handling.
Porsche Traction Management (PTM) is also adjusted to suit the driving conditions of the Macan T and is specially designed with rear-wheel bias. The Macan T with a 4-cylinder engine can be equipped with an adaptive air suspension including PASM and can be lowered by an additional 10 millimeters. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), which enhances driving dynamics to match the dynamic characteristics of the T model, is also available as an option.
The Macan T completes its interior and exterior design with exclusive details. The front, side, and rear design of the Macan T, finished in Agate Grey Metallic, distinguishes it from other Macan models. You can see contrasting special colors on the painted front trim, side mirrors, side blades, roof spoiler, and rear logo. Black-colored sports tailpipes and high-gloss black side window trims are standard, and the side blades are engraved with the black ‘Macan T’ logo. The 20-inch Macan S wheels made of dark titanium are also standard. A total of 13 exterior colors are available, including plain, metallic, and special colors.
The interior creates a special atmosphere unique to the T model. The standard 8-way electrically adjustable heated sports seats include exclusive covers based on a black leather package. A Sport-Tex stripe pattern is applied to the center of the front and rear seats, and the Porsche crest is embossed on the front seat headrests. Silver-colored stitching is applied to the seats, headrests, and steering wheel in a color contrasting with the exterior.
