Radon Mattresses, Masks, and Home Treatment Kits... Delivery Workers Step Up Again
Starting from the 16th, Delivery Begins for Quarantine Subjects
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] Starting from the 16th, post office delivery workers will deliver home treatment kits to COVID-19 patients undergoing home treatment. Following the collection of radon mattresses in 2018 and the supply of public masks in 2020, the post office is once again taking on a public role during a national disaster situation.
The Ministry of Science and ICT’s Postal Service Headquarters announced on the 16th that, due to the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases caused by the spread of Omicron, timely delivery of home treatment kits to home treatment patients has become crucial, and thus post office delivery workers will deliver the home treatment kits.
Practical consultations are underway nationwide between post offices and public health centers to ensure smooth delivery of the home treatment kits. When the public health center registers delivery information (name, address, contact number) on the Internet Post Office, the delivery worker will deliver the kit contactlessly (to the door) on the same day. Through the post office, which has a nationwide delivery network, recipients can receive the home treatment kits more safely and securely. Once delivery is completed, a delivery completion message (via text message or KakaoTalk) will be sent, so recipients can check the notification message at home before receiving the kit. The home treatment kit includes fever reducers, thermometers, oxygen saturation meters, and disinfectants for cleaning. The recipients of the home treatment kits are focused management groups such as those aged 60 and over and those prescribed oral antiviral treatments.

The headquarters will provide protective equipment such as masks and hand sanitizers to ensure the safety of delivery workers delivering the home treatment kits. Two-wheelers and postal vehicles will be disinfected twice daily to strengthen quarantine measures. To prevent work overload, adjustments to delivery volumes and areas, as well as manpower support, will be promptly provided.
