[Olympics] Lee Ki-heung, President of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, Meets Thomas Bach, IOC President
ANOC General Assembly and Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Cooperation Commitment Promised
The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee announced on the 15th that Chairman Lee Ki-heung met with IOC President Thomas Bach and James McLeod, Director of the National Olympic Committees (NOC) department, at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) headquarters hotel in downtown Beijing on the evening of the 14th for a 40-minute discussion. President Bach said, "During the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, the closed-loop system was operated so effectively that there were almost no COVID-19 cases within the loop, allowing the Games to proceed safely," and wished for the safety and success of the Korean athletes. Chairman Lee expressed his gratitude for the interest shown toward the Korean delegation. He also agreed to closely cooperate with the IOC for the successful hosting of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) General Assembly in Seoul this October and the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games.
