LG Saenggeon Declares '2050 Carbon Neutrality'... Investing 200 Billion Won by 2030
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] LG Household & Health Care has established a plan to invest approximately 200 billion KRW in renewable energy and greenhouse gas reduction technologies by 2030, aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 45% compared to 2020 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

On the 15th, LG Household & Health Care held an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Committee meeting at the LG Gwanghwamun Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where it approved the '2050 Carbon Neutrality Plan' with these details.

LG Household & Health Care has proactively identified 84 actionable tasks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and plans to invest about 200 billion KRW by 2030.

Initially, the company will gradually implement measures such as replacing workplace lighting with LEDs, establishing wastewater recycling facilities, and installing solar power systems, aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 45% compared to 2020 by 2030. After 2030, it plans to introduce various new technologies related to carbon neutrality to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

To build a sustainable supply chain, LG Household & Health Care will expand ESG capacity-building activities targeting over 500 partner companies. These partners will conduct self-assessments to check ESG risk factors and improvement areas in four categories: ▲Human Rights & Labor ▲Ethical Management ▲Environment, Safety & Health ▲Management Systems. Additionally, the company will establish ESG training programs for partner company executives and staff, provide domestic and international ESG management information, and strengthen consulting activities.
