Kocca Seeks Promising Animation Following 'House of Existence' and 'Zombiedumb'
Support for Seventy-Eight Works Worth 12.7 Billion Won
'House of Existence,' invited to the short film competition at the Berlin International Film Festival, and the 'Zombiedumb' series, which has been released in 230 countries, share a commonality. Both were selected as animation production support projects by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), alleviating financial burdens. KOCCA announced on the 14th that it is recruiting animation works and companies to follow these two projects until the 22nd. The target is domestic animation planning and production businesses. A total of 7.8 billion KRW will be allocated to support seventy-eight projects. An official stated, "The number of supported works has increased by about 30% compared to last year," adding, "We have newly established a production support category utilizing intellectual property (IP) to respond to changes in the industry ecosystem."

The largest portion of domestic animation production support (8.3 billion KRW) is divided into early main episodes (20 works), main episodes (13 works), and season works (4 works). In the next-generation animation production support category (1.4 billion KRW), twenty works with outstanding originality will be selected. The newly established IP utilization production support (2 billion KRW) will select six works produced based on IP from webtoons, dramas, movies, and other sources. An official said, "We aim to secure sustainable future growth engines through the linkage of animation with other genres." Independent animation production support is divided into three feature-length films and twelve short films. KOCCA has prepared an 'Animation Bootcamp' to support projects in the early planning stages. Ten bible production companies and eight trailer production companies will be selected to provide pitching opportunities for investment attraction. Companies that complete the program or award-winning works will receive additional points when applying for animation production support.
