KCCI "Delivery Workers' Union Occupies CJ Daehan Tongun Headquarters... Expresses Serious Concern"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Korea Employers Federation (KEF) on the 10th expressed serious concerns regarding the nationwide delivery workers' union's occupation of the CJ Logistics headquarters in Sogong-dong, stating, "During the union's entry, the main gate of the headquarters was destroyed, company property was damaged, and acts of violence against executives and employees occurred."
In a statement released that day, KEF said, "The delivery workers' union is exhibiting collective selfish behavior by presenting strike justifications that lack sufficient grounds."
It continued, "Since the strike began last December, the delivery workers' union has claimed that CJ Logistics violated social agreements and demanded an increase in delivery workers' commissions. However, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's inspection in January revealed that CJ Logistics is 'adequately' fulfilling the social agreement. After the strike justification weakened, the union sought government and political intervention, but when this failed, they resorted to illegal acts involving physical force. Organizations that do not hesitate to use power and illegality for profit can no longer be regarded as legitimate members of our society," it criticized.
KEF explained, "In addition to the occupation, the delivery workers' union committed numerous illegal acts during this strike. To maximize the strike's impact, they obstructed lawful substitute deliveries by CJ Logistics' direct drivers and even disrupted normal deliveries by some non-union members. Physical clashes occurred in some areas. The union has also been punished in the past for multiple illegal acts such as work obstruction and assault during strikes."

Furthermore, KEF emphasized, "The recurrence of illegal acts during strikes is due to the lack of proper punishment for union illegality. The government must not respond passively under the pretext of labor-management relations. The business community urges the government to immediately and strictly enforce the law against the nationwide delivery workers' union's illegal occupation of CJ Logistics headquarters and obstruction of business operations."
