[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) is recruiting smoking cessation guides until the 18th to reduce the damage caused by secondhand smoke and create a smoke-free environment.
The smoking cessation guides will engage in activities related to managing the smoke-free environment, such as inspecting compliance with facility standards in smoke-free zones, monitoring and educating about smoking behavior in smoke-free areas, and supporting smoking cessation promotion and education. This year, a total of three people will be recruited.
Applicants can check the required documents and qualifications on the Dongdaemun-gu Office website under the public notices section or on the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center website. Those who wish to participate should complete the necessary documents and apply in person at the Health Policy Division of the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center.
After the first document screening and the second interview screening, the smoking cessation guides will be appointed, and the final successful candidates will be individually notified on the 25th.
The appointment period is two years, from March 1 to February 28, 2024. When working as a smoking cessation guide, an activity fee of 40,000 KRW will be paid for daytime hours on weekdays (9 AM to 6 PM), and 60,000 KRW for nighttime/dawn hours (6 PM to 9 AM) and holiday activities.

Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “We plan to appoint smoking cessation guides to reduce the damage caused by secondhand smoke and create a smoke-free environment,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to make Dongdaemun-gu a clean area free of cigarette smoke.”
