Rail Bridge 'Head Ledge' Won't Catch Anymore... Andong City to Demolish Abandoned Jungang Line Rail Bridge on February 8
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Andong City, Gyeongbuk, is starting the demolition work of the abandoned section of the Jungang Line railway. Due to this section, only vehicles with low height had to pass under the bridge head like playing limbo.
Andong City announced that the Cheolli 2 Bridge in Unheung-dong, part of the abandoned railway section, will be demolished on February 8. Traffic around the road in the work area will be restricted from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Until now, vehicles passing under the Cheolli 2 Bridge were limited to a height of 2.3m, causing inconvenience for large vehicles such as tour buses and freight trucks, which had to take detours.
The city decided to prioritize the demolition of Cheolli 2 Bridge, which urgently requires removal among the abandoned railway bridges, in consultation with the Korea Rail Network Authority. Once the railway bridge is removed, the height restriction will be lifted, eliminating the need for detours.
