Gwangju Gwangsan-gu Selected as an Excellent Case in the Win-Win Economy Category of the 'Local Government Productivity Award'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 3rd that it was selected as the first place in the win-win economy category at the '11th Local Government Productivity Awards (大賞)'.
The 'Local Government Productivity Awards' is hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and organized by the Korea Productivity Center, measuring the productivity index of cities, counties, and districts nationwide and evaluating best practices.
This evaluation was conducted in four categories: 'People-centered Inclusive Society,' 'Environmental Safety,' 'Capable Citizens and Communities,' and 'Win-win Economy.'
Gwangsan-gu received the excellence award for the achievements of the '1% Hope Loan' promoted in cooperation with local financial institutions.
In 2020, when the local economy was in crisis due to COVID-19, the district promoted the '1% Hope Loan,' providing emergency funds at a low interest rate of 1% to low-credit small business owners together with the Gwangsan Economic Vaccine Council and local mutual financial institutions.
Up to last year, a total of 648 people benefited from loans amounting to approximately 4.6 billion won over four rounds, helping to revive the local economy.
Recognizing these efforts and values, Gwangsan-gu ranked first among local governments in the win-win economy category, marking its second consecutive award following the encouragement award in 2020.
