Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office to Operate 'EJIT Environmental Joint Inspection Team' Starting Next Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office will form and operate the 'EJIT Joint Environmental Inspection Team,' where inspection departments within the Environmental Office conduct joint inspections in a short period starting from February.
The inspection team is expected to complement issues such as lack of personnel and time, and the burden on workplaces caused by overlapping inspections, while also providing solutions for environmental management, thereby securing the effectiveness and reliability of inspections.
The operation of the inspection team will select inspection targets through monthly consultations among departments such as the Environmental Monitoring Team, Environmental Management Division, and Air Environment Management Team. Starting from February, inspections will be conducted once a month, and follow-up management will verify whether pointed-out issues have been improved.
During on-site inspections, advanced equipment such as drones, mobile measurement vehicles, and optical gas imaging cameras owned by each department will be utilized to increase the accuracy of inspections and strengthen the capability to collect evidence of violations.
As a result of inspections, violations detected will be subject to internal investigation, followed by referral to the prosecution and requests for administrative measures such as sanctions to the relevant local governments. Minor issues will be guided on-site considering intentionality and the degree of pollution damage.
Meanwhile, if requested by workplaces, expert on-site technical support and consulting will be provided to enhance the environmental management capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises.
