Gwangyang Steelworks Operates Lunar New Year Gift Return Center with "We Only Accept Your Heart" Policy
Operating until January 28... Leading the Establishment of a Healthy Holiday Culture
Items Difficult to Return Are Auctioned Internally, Proceeds Donated to the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Director Lee Jin-su) announced that it will operate a 'Gift Return Center' to establish a proper ethical culture ahead of the Lunar New Year.
The 'Gift Return Center' helps employees of the steelworks return gifts received from suppliers and stakeholders during holidays such as Lunar New Year and Chuseok, which they were unable to return themselves, by handling the return process at the company's expense.
Since Chuseok 2003, Gwangyang Steelworks has opened the 'Gift Return Center' every holiday season, leading efforts to create a healthy and ethical holiday culture among its executives and employees.
This year, the center will operate for ten days from January 18 to 28, allowing holiday gifts to be returned anytime through the 'Gift Return Centers' set up on the 1st and 4th floors of the Gwangyang Steelworks headquarters and various locations within the steelworks.
The center accepts gifts delivered not only to the company but also to employees' homes, attaching a sticker that reads "We accept your thought, but return the gift" when sending back the items.
Items that are difficult to return, such as those with unclear senders or perishable agricultural and marine products, are donated externally or sold through an online internal auction. All proceeds are donated to the 'POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation' and used for projects that practice the corporate citizenship management philosophy.
Meanwhile, POSCO has operated the holiday gift center a total of 37 times from 2003 to this Lunar New Year. The total number of gifts received up to last year, including those from POSCO and its group companies, reached 4,782. Additionally, the proceeds from internal auctions so far amount to approximately 165.84 million KRW, all of which have been donated to the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation and used for POSCO's social contribution activities.
