View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Around the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, using Gyeonggi local currency at traditional markets and neighborhood businesses in Gyeonggi Province will return 10% of the charged amount as an incentive. Consumers can receive an additional amount ranging from a minimum of 30,000 KRW to a maximum of 100,000 KRW.
According to the province on the 25th, Dongducheon City has decided to increase the per-person limit of the 'Dongducheon Sarang Card' from 400,000 KRW to 600,000 KRW until the 31st of this month.
Yongin City raised the charging limit of 'Yongin Y-Pay' from 300,000 KRW to 500,000 KRW for the entire month of January, and Suwon City will also expand the charging limit of 'Suwon Pay' from the existing 300,000 KRW to 500,000 KRW until the 31st.
Separately from the 10% incentive payment, Goyang City will provide a 10,000 KRW consumption coupon (limited to 5 per person) when paying 50,000 KRW or more with 'Goyang Pay' at traditional markets until the 6th of next month.
Guri City is currently running an event where 100 citizens who spend 100,000 KRW or more by the 13th of next month will be selected by lottery to receive 10,000 KRW in local currency.
Cities and counties such as Gwangmyeong, Gwangju, Guri, Namyangju, Anseong, Yangju, Yeoju, Yeoncheon, and Icheon are currently operating with a monthly per-person charging limit increased to 1,000,000 KRW.
