President Moon's Interview with Egyptian Local Media: "Building Peace Is Not Easy"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] An interview with President Moon Jae-in, who is visiting Egypt as part of his Middle East tour, was released on the 20th (local time). President Moon stated, "The path to peace has not yet been institutionalized," evaluating that building peace is not easy.
In a written interview with Al-Ahram, Egypt's largest public newspaper, President Moon said, "Considering the current situation, peacebuilding does not seem easy."
Explaining that this is because the path to peace, such as a 'ceasefire declaration,' has not been institutionalized, President Moon said, "Peace will be achieved when we strongly desire it" and "We will continue to sincerely strive for peacebuilding in the future."
He added, "I will not stop my efforts for this until the last moment of my presidential term," and "I hope the Egyptian government, which is playing an active role in regional stability, will continue to support until a new era of peace opens on the Korean Peninsula."
