Gurye-gun, Emergency Welfare Support Application for Low-Income Crisis Households

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 20th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will promote the Emergency Welfare Support Project to assist households in crisis facing difficulties.

The Emergency Welfare Support, a nationally funded subsidy project, is a system that quickly provides emergency living expenses, medical expenses, housing costs, education expenses, fuel costs, and childbirth/funeral expenses to low-income households struggling to maintain their livelihood due to sudden crisis reasons such as the death, unemployment, or illness of the main income earner, helping them escape from crisis situations.

The eligibility criteria for emergency welfare support have been raised compared to last year: ▲ households with income below 75% of the median income ▲ general property worth less than 130 million KRW and financial assets less than 6 million KRW.

The support amount for a four-person household is up to 1.3 million KRW for living support, 240,000 KRW for housing support, and 3 million KRW for medical support.

Additionally, supplementary benefits such as education benefits, fuel costs, and childbirth/funeral expenses can be provided.

However, recipients of other legal supports such as National Basic Livelihood Security recipients and unemployment benefit recipients are excluded.

Kim Sunho, the governor of Gurye-gun, said, “We will do our best to thoroughly identify and support households in crisis who need help by actively utilizing the local human safety net such as the welfare task force, case managers, and village heads, to provide even a little assistance for residents struggling in crisis situations.”
