Jeonnam Police to Conduct 'Seol Holiday Special Security Operations' Until February 2
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] With an increase in security demand expected ahead of the Seol holiday, the Jeonnam Police will carry out special security activities for the holiday.
The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency and the Jeonnam Autonomous Police Committee announced on the 20th that they will promote 'Special Security Activities for the Seol Holiday' for 10 days from the 24th of this month to the 2nd of next month, to ensure that residents can spend a safe and peaceful holiday amid rising security demands and concerns over the spread of COVID-19.
In particular, with the implementation of the autonomous police system, police activities reflecting regional characteristics and residents' opinions will be carried out, focusing all efforts on residents' safety so that Jeonnam residents can enjoy a peaceful Seol holiday.
During the Seol holiday period (average daily from the 19th to the 21st), overall 112 emergency calls decreased compared to normal times, but reports of crimes against socially vulnerable groups such as domestic violence (up 35.0%) and violence (up 21.3%) that spoil the holiday atmosphere increased.
Accordingly, a full monitoring will be conducted on households at risk of recurrence of domestic violence (including child abuse) to assess the risk of recurrence and the need for protective support.
Additionally, swift and strict responses will be made to violations of quarantine guidelines such as operating unauthorized entertainment facilities and breaking self-quarantine rules, helping to alleviate public anxiety and actively participating in the government-wide disaster response related to COVID-19.
Furthermore, during the promotion period, police patrol activities will be systematized and diversified to expand contact with residents, and crime and other risk signs will be detected using security big data to carry out proactive and active preventive security activities.
Centered on the Crime Prevention Diagnosis Team (CPO), after diagnosing and analyzing crime vulnerability factors in the region, urgent themes will be selected to deploy personnel, strengthen patrols, promote through SNS, improve the environment, and implement appropriate measures for vulnerable elements.
Together with cooperative organizations such as the Autonomous Crime Prevention Corps, preventive patrol activities will be conducted in residential areas, unmanned stores, traditional markets, and areas densely populated by foreigners.
To ensure traffic safety and minimize traffic inconvenience, police officers will be proactively deployed in congested areas such as traditional markets and large marts to manage traffic focusing on smooth flow, and efforts will be made to promote safe driving by providing real-time information on traffic conditions and emergencies through traffic broadcasts, Traffic Alert e, and VMS.
