Shinsegae Acquires eBay Korea, New Name 'Gmarket Global'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] eBay Korea, acquired by Shinsegae Group's Emart, will change its company name to 'Gmarket Global.'
On the 19th, the company stated, "Among eBay Korea's brands, Gmarket has high customer loyalty and has led the Korean e-commerce industry. We decided on the name 'Gmarket Global' to maintain the representative brand's continuity while seeking greater growth opportunities in future businesses as a digital platform pillar of Shinsegae Group."
The company applied for a corporate name change at the court the day before and received approval. Accordingly, it is currently updating the corporate name display on its sites. The company logo will remain the existing Gmarket logo.
