Hanmi Semiconductor Reports Record High Operating Profit of 122.4 Billion KRW Last Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] Global semiconductor equipment company Hanmi Semiconductor announced on the 19th that it achieved its highest performance since its founding, recording sales of 373.1 billion KRW and operating profit of 122.4 billion KRW last year. Sales increased by 45% and operating profit by 84% compared to the previous year.
Hanmi Semiconductor Vice Chairman Gwak Dongshin explained, "Last year, amid the COVID-19 situation, raw material price increases and supply instability caused global economic uncertainty to be higher than ever," adding, "We focused on improving profitability through selection and concentration."
He continued, "In June last year, we succeeded in domestic production of micro SAW equipment for the first time in Korea," and said, "By leading with an annual cost reduction effect of about 90 billion KRW, resolving supply uncertainties, and enabling rapid equipment delivery, we succeeded in replacing imports by pushing out Japanese companies that had dominated the global market in the semiconductor package SAW field."
He added, "This year, based on Hanmi Semiconductor's 42 years of experience and over 320 global customers, we expect continuous growth," and said, "In preparation for growth, we plan to establish Hanmi Vietnam by the end of this year, following Hanmi Taiwan and Hanmi China."
They expect strong sales of the world’s top-selling products, micro SAW & vision placement and EMI shield equipment, as well as increased sales of TC Bonder and FC Bonder, essential equipment for semiconductor 3D packaging processes, and the recently launched Meta Grinder for virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) glasses, which is gaining attention as a next-generation platform based on the metaverse.

Hanmi Semiconductor, a global leader in semiconductor equipment manufacturing with about 90% of its total sales coming from system semiconductors including foundries, is considered a key beneficiary of TSMC, the world’s largest semiconductor foundry company. It is expected to continue long-term growth with global OSAT companies alongside the ongoing growth of the global system semiconductor market driven by Intel and Samsung Electronics’ entry into the foundry market.
