General Manager of the Trade Headquarters Discusses Indo-Pacific Economic Framework with the U.S.... Cooperation on Supply Chains and More
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Yeoh Han-gu, Director-General for Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, discussed regional economic cooperation through the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework with Katherine Tai, United States Trade Representative (USTR).
According to the Ministry of Trade on the 19th, Director-General Yeoh held a bilateral video meeting with Representative Tai and agreed on the need to strengthen strategic partnerships in addressing trade issues such as supply chains, new technologies, digital ecosystems, and trade revitalization.
The United States emphasized regional cooperation through the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, which was mentioned during its visit to Korea in November last year. The Korean side stated that once the details are finalized, they will communicate closely and advance discussions with the U.S., expanding regional economic cooperation based on strengthening the Korea-U.S. strategic trade partnership.
Director-General Yeoh is scheduled to visit Washington D.C., USA, for one week starting from the 25th to discuss Korea-U.S. trade issues.

An official from the Ministry of Trade stated, "Our government plans to determine its position from the perspective of maximizing national interests by comprehensively considering the economic cooperation effects, impacts on our companies, and the positions of major countries regarding the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework."
