According to the county on the 18th, this campaign was proactively initiated to prevent the spread of the virus infection as the Omicron variant’s spread shows no signs of slowing down and a large population movement is expected during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Accordingly, the county has identified 29 key tasks across four major areas to promote the Pause campaign.
The four major areas include spreading the participation atmosphere for the ‘Pause 3GO Practice Campaign,’ administrative service support to enhance participation of residents and hometown association members, efficient and effective special quarantine measures for the Lunar New Year holiday, and revitalizing the local economy through promoting the consumption of specialty products.
First, to spread the participation atmosphere for the Pause 3GO Practice Campaign, the county will distribute letters, issue a joint appeal from nationwide hometown association presidents, conduct joint public-private campaigns, and run SNS relay campaigns.
Second, administrative service support to enhance participation of residents and hometown members includes online check-ins on parents’ wellbeing, sharing Lunar New Year holiday food, online ancestral rites services, and family proxy joint ancestral rites support.
In particular, hometown members who do not visit their hometowns can apply to their town or township offices for ‘checking on parents’ wellbeing,’ where the town or township head will personally visit the parents to check on them and assist with video calls with their children.
Third, for efficient and effective special quarantine measures, visitors who inevitably visit their hometowns are required to minimize the number of visitors and only those who have received the third dose of the vaccine are allowed to visit. Visitors from other regions or returnees are encouraged to undergo diagnostic testing regardless of symptoms upon returning home.
Additionally, the county plans to operate village guardian volunteer groups, deploy quarantine management personnel at major tourist sites, conduct quarantine inspections on passenger and fishing boats, and implement special quarantine measures at large marts and convenience stores within the jurisdiction.
Fourth, to contribute to revitalizing the local economy through promoting the consumption of specialty products, the county plans to implement measures accordingly.
Events such as free shipping and discounts will be promoted through 67 companies on the county’s representative specialty product shopping mall ‘Wando-gun e-Shop’ and 43 companies on the post office shopping mall. Marketing to promote seafood consumption will be supported by subsidizing logistics costs for large distribution companies such as live commerce (Naver) and E-Mart.
A county official said, “If the virus spread is not curbed, the path to the daily life recovery we earnestly desire will become increasingly distant,” adding, “Please keep in mind that our small actions protect our families and neighbors, and we ask for your active participation in the ‘Pause 3GO Practice Campaign.’”
