[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Daekyung University, renowned as the 'Theater Academy,' announced on the 17th that it will select acting majors in the Department of Theater and Film through the second round of regular admissions special screening (100% practical skills).
This second round of regular admissions will evaluate candidates solely based on free acting practical skills without considering school records, and the number of students to be selected is eight.
According to Daekyung University, due to the increased number of theatrical productions, web dramas, and short film production projects this year, the practical skills portion has been emphasized, and the second round of regular admissions will select students beyond the quota.
Marking its 27th anniversary since the department's establishment, Daekyung University's Department of Theater and Film has been distinguished by the continuous awards won by its alumni in theater and broadcasting fields.
In particular, the department has earned a reputation as a focused academy in theater and acting by winning awards such as Best Work, Grand Prize, and Acting Award at events including the Daegu International Musical Festival, Geochang, Miryang, and the Young Theater Festival.
This year, the advanced acting major in the Department of Theater and Film attracted about 60 applicants for 16 spots, showing an average competition ratio of 4:1. The faculty includes field expert professors specializing in theater theory and criticism, acting, directing, musicals, and performance technology.
Professor Kim Geonpyo of the Department of Theater and Film stated, “The Department of Theater and Film is a three-year program, and students who complete a one-year advanced major course after graduation can enter graduate school, making it effectively a four-year program. This year, the graduate school admission rate in the Seoul area is very high.”
The application period for the second round of regular admissions for the Department of Theater and Film is until February 13, and the practical skills evaluation will be held from February 17 to 19.
