Namwon-si Hosts Special Gift Exhibition Featuring Social Economy Enterprise Products

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] The Jeonbuk Namwon City Social Economy Council announced on the 17th that it will hold a 'Special Gift Set Exhibition' for the 2022 Lunar New Year holiday in the first-floor lobby of the city hall on the 20th.

Under the slogan "Namwon, a city of love that helps each other and grows together through social economy," this event was planned to promote sales and expand distribution channels for social economy enterprises, which have been stagnating due to COVID-19, and it features a more diverse range of gift sets compared to the previous year.

This event, participated by Namwon's social enterprises, village enterprises, and cooperatives, prepared 23 types of gift sets at various price points, including Hangwa (traditional Korean sweets), oils, chueotang (loach soup), and gimbugak (seaweed snacks), all produced from healthy local agricultural products.

The city hopes that this event will provide citizens with an opportunity to understand social economy enterprises and participate in warm-hearted consumption.

Currently, Namwon's social economy enterprises include 18 social enterprises, 9 village enterprises, 18 social cooperatives, and 87 general cooperatives, with numbers increasing every year.

These enterprises continuously engage in creating jobs for vulnerable groups within the region and various community contribution activities.

Kang Byung-kyu, chairman of the Namwon City Social Economy Council, said, "Expanding distribution channels is the biggest challenge for social economy enterprises on the ground," and added, "The city's cooperation in the joint holiday sales event is a great encouragement to the council's member companies."

A city official said, "We hope this event, held together with the Namwon City Social Economy Council, will act as a catalyst to revitalize the local economic circulation."
